Mabel and I have booked a room for Friday and Saturday nights, but would like to share it with one or two others in order to split the cost. Is anyone interested? |

| Sad News |

It is my sad duty to pass along the news that Jonathan Baker's father, Sydney Baker, passed away earlier today.
As a result, the Bakers will not be able to attend Conterpoint as our Listener Guests. In their honor, however, we will continue with the Listener's Request concert we had scheduled for Sunday.
On behalf of the Conterpoint 2010 Committee, I extend our deepest sympathies and condolences to Jonathan and Debbie. |

| Conterpoint song/program book |

The Conterpoint program book will have a good selection of songs from various contributors, including songs about space, zombies, elder gods, and flying, and "Never Set the Cat on Fire" as a German madrigal.
Jane Sibley was going to contribute a bunch of illustrations, but regrettably they went to the wrong address, so I won't be able to include them since my schedule for June is very constrained. |

| Conterpoint hotel block closes May 24 |

It's a bit embarrassing to put both of these in the same post, but ...
I just noticed that the Conterpoint room block closes on May 24. Don't forget to reserve your room if you haven't!
And speaking of people who forgot ... Is anyone interested in a roomshare? If I don't hear from anyone shortly, I'll reserve my own room. I'm an early but quiet riser and insist on my own bed. |

| Anybody Need a Roommate for Conterpoint? |

I was planning on driving in from north of Baltimore each day, but if anyone needs a roommate and to split hotel room costs, I'd be interested. That way I won't fall asleep at the wheel on the way home in the wee hours, and I'll be able to catch a whole lot more of the con, too.

| Quick Conterpoint Update |

With May upon us, I figured it was time for a quick reminder that pre-registration for Conterpoint closes at the end of the month. So download a flyer from the website and send it in, or catch a friendly neighborhood con-com member at Balticon.
The song contest theme is "Making Contact", since it is, after all, 2010. The usual rules apply--song must have been written since Concertino 2009 / NEFilk 19, etc. See the website for more details.
We still have concert slots available. Drop a message to ![[info]](http://l-stat.livejournal.com/img/userinfo.gif?v=92.2) the_sheryl if you're interested. Also, we're looking for a few good volunteers, particularly for morning registration shifts and late night con suite shifts. Reply here or message me if you're interested.
